Sea Chiefs 要说话!

HELLO OAC PEOPLE! :D

Your sea chiefs have some interesting stuffs to share with all you people out there! :D Some very
important announcements to make! (:

Firstly, the
Sea Expedition for ITC (: Currently, we have a variety of options to be explored, so read closely for it:

1: We can go on a kayaking experidtion, with the choice of venue being either of the Sea Sports Club (SSC). However, we are limited by the fact that some people amongst us haven't gotten their 1Star certification, which means they cannot rent kayaks to paddle for fun. Furthermore, with the majority of us only have 1 star certification, it means that we will only be able to kayak around in circles within 500m radius of the SSC, which equates to the whole expedition being pointless cos no distance is being covered and we can only compete with each other the number of capsizes made and attempts to capsize each other.
Cost: $12

2: We can go for a windsurfing level one course, which will take up a full day and will give us a certificate that entitles us to windsurf in the future. However, the issue now is that they only have 22 vacancies distributed over 2 days, the 3rd and the 4th on November., with 12 vacancies on the first day and 10 on the second. The situation posted to us is that they have complications on their side with not enough instructors available to carry out so many ourses at one go.Currently, we already have some people in our batch that hold the Level 1 Windsurfing certificate, so they can easily rent a board and surf away. To enable such a situation to occur, we will need to have a rotation of events i.e. land ex and sea ex to do a mutual swap, with Group A doing windsurfing and Group B doing sea ex. This isn't possible, but it'll just pose a logistical and programme planning nightmare that's all. Cost: $40

3: We can go dragon boating! It's simple and exciting. All we have to do is to jump into the boat with our paddles and paddle to the beat and calls of the people rowing! Simple, brainless and easy to do. This activity will take up a full day, and will see OAC competing amonst each other to see who forms the best dragon boating team! SO EXCITING RITE! (: This proposal is the simplest, easiest to undertake and has the fun element included! Cost: $12

4: Anoter few options that can be explored are sailing, wakeboarding, kiteboarding, paragliding and water skiiing. These sports are all expensive and unable to be done in large groups, so they haven't been thoroughly explored yet. Will need a lot of money and commitment to let these sports be put in ITC though.

The above are the few options currently explored for ITC. The sea chiefs will continue to explore more options, but for now these are the most viable ones, so please give some comments! (:

NEXT, we have our 2 star kayaking course updates! (: SO EXCITING! For all those of you who want to take up 2 star kayaking (highly recommended!), the liasing with the SSC in focus (Changi btw) has pointed out to 3 dates for the course, being 18th, 25th and 30th November 2007 (: the issue now is that most of the dates fall on weekends with some people nor free and such, but the SSC's stand is that they will not have enough instructors to come down to teach on all the weekdays. We'll try to get more dates, but for now just keep the dates stated above open! More details to come soon, so keep a lookout!
Cost: $50

Wakeboarding lessons! For those of you fans out there who want to wake, this is it for you! The starter course for wakeboarding costs $250 for 10 lessons, so if you are undaunted by the cost wait for more updates as we liase for the dates! (:

That should be all that the sea chiefs have for now. Stay tuned for more updates!

Your 33rd sea chiefs (:

p.s. please hand in all SSC membership application forms and money to Lokky asap!
